Zombie Memes, Shark Week and Why I Love Short Form Writing

Long form writing is great. Long blogs, novels, etc. are wonderful.

But they are so dang long.

That’s why I also love short form writing – short blog posts, social media posts, Twitter hashtag games, #1lineWed, memes, etc.

It’s about mixing things up, experimenting and just having fun.

Short form allows you to condense all your writing skill into a short burst of art.

It’s skill in a cage.

These arbitrary restrictions heighten creativity. Strangely, by shackling your talent, you set it free.

Short is not less, it’s more.

Take this recent social media post of mine:

There is no reason for me to post this except that it pleases me. I thought it was funny and maybe others will, too.

So write short.
